Tickets for "The Thorn" Are Now On Sale

Tickets for the Fall touring production of "The Thorn" open for sale to the general public on Ticketmaster, today. The Fall tour of "The Thorn" includes two performances in Huntsville, Alabama at the Von Braun Center on November 15th at 7PM and November 16th at 1PM. A stage production of the story of Christ told from the perspective of the Disciple John, "The Thorn", blends the gospel story with theatrical elements reminiscent of Cirque du Soleil.

"The Thorn" opens with the Disciple John being miraculously spared a martyr's fate at the hand of the Ancient Romans due to his Christian work. As John was the last surviving disciple of Christ and it was thought that if his life was ended, then the Christian message would cease to spread throughout the empire. And while John was spared a gruesome death at the hands of the Romans, the Roman Emperor Domitian was still not pleased with the Apostle John and his spreading of The Good News, so he banished John to the island of Patmos. A barren and rocky Greek island in the Aegean Sea which was the island of choice for the Romans to banish their criminals.

While such an exile could easily have been a death sentence, John's friends and supporters in Ephesus sent him food and supplies that kept him alive and well. Resulting in the Apostle John's exile on the Isle of Patmos becoming the ultimate writer's retreat. For instead of withering away in exile on the island, God led the Apostle John to spending his time writing The Book of Revelations. Which in the play, "The Thorn", is switched to the Gospel of John, one of the most powerful gospels in The Bible.

Perhaps the most compelling scene in the stage production of "The Thorn" is when the tomb is burst open one the third day and the light shines to reveal the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The special effects that are used in this scene are particularly impressive and well worth the ticket price alone. However, the entire production is well presented in an artistic fashion.
