The people's voice of reason

Happy Easter, Alabama!

As we welcome the beautiful season of Spring, we also celebrate the most important moment in our faith – the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

First Peter Chapter 1: Verse 3 reads, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."

This verse reminds us that while Easter brings about tradition and even celebration, at its core, it is about hope.

A hope that is alive.

A hope that cannot be shaken – not by hardship, not by sorrow and not even by death itself.

And the living hope we find in the resurrection of Christ is a promise. It demonstrates that no matter what we face, there is a new beginning waiting.

Lately, as the days have grown a little longer and the sun shines a little brighter, I have found myself surrounded with constant reminders that our God is always at work – renewing, restoring and reminding us of His everlasting love.

Easter being settled in the season of new beginnings is perfectly placed – for just as spring brings new life to earth, Christ's resurrection brings new life to the soul.

This Easter, may your hearts be filled with the living hope we are promised through our Savior, and may God continue to bless each of you and this great state we call home.
