The people's voice of reason

Aderholt said that the IG's report finds that the Biden Administration thwarted the Space Command move to Huntsville is "Deeply disturbing"

April 15, 2025 - WASHINGTON, D.C. - On Mondy the Inspector General released a report showing that there was no national security reason for Space Command to go to Colorado instead of Alabama and in fact making the base in Colorado adequate for Space Command will cost $100s of millions of dollars. Former President Joseph R. Biden (D) made the inexplicable decision purely on political grounds. Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-AL04) issued a statement in response to the release of the Inspector General's report.

"The findings in the Inspector General's report confirm what many of us in Alabama have long suspected - that the Biden Administration's decision to move U.S. Space Command to Colorado Springs was driven by politics, not merit," said Congressman Aderholt. "This revelation is deeply troubling and represents a clear deviation from the rigorous, objective process that initially ranked Huntsville as the top choice."

"While the redactions contained in this public report make for obscure reading, the conclusion could not be clearer: Huntsville earned its ranking fair and square, based on strategic value, existing infrastructure, and quality of life in North Alabama," continued Aderholt. "To disregard those facts for political reasons not only undermines public trust but also compromises our military readiness."

Congressman Mike Rogers (R-Alabama) has stated that he believes that the Trump administration will reverse Biden's purely political decision (Colorado is a blue state; while Alabama has not supported a Democratic nominee for President in 48 years.

"I remain confident that with new leadership at the Department of the Air Force, we will see this wrong decision corrected," said Aderholt. "I believe the new Secretary of the Air Force will take a fresh, apolitical look at the facts and restore integrity to this process. I will continue working with my colleagues to ensure that national security decisions are made on the merits, not political convenience."

Rep. Rogers chairs the House Armed Services Committee.

"The Inspector General's report confirms that the Trump Administration was correct in selecting Huntsville, AL, as the site for SPACECOM Headquarters, and reveals an astounding lack of transparency and accountability by the Biden Administration," said Chairman Rogers. "After years of promises about 'due diligence' and 'careful consideration, ' political employees at the White House cut out the Air Force and senior defense leaders to select Colorado over Alabama as the site for SPACECOM headquarters."
