UA System Board of Trustees advances facilities projects, expands new program offerings at UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (APR 10, 2025) – The University of Alabama (UA) System Board of Trustees met on the campus of The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), a part of the UA System, on Friday, April 4. The Board advanced numerous UAH projects and programs.

Summaries of the individual announcements are below, including links to individual releases. All releases and their associated photos are available in this folder.

(1) UAH moves forward on Bevill Center upgrade for advanced cybersecurity facility

The announcement moves UAH one step closer to expanding facilities key to cybersecurity education, training and research.

(2) UA System Board of Trustees advances facilities projects for track and field, fitness center

The Board further advanced one project – the new UAH Track and Field Complex – and approved initial plans for the reconfiguration and renovation of the University Fitness Center.

(3) UAH expands program offerings in cyber, AI and game design

The new offerings, which include two B.S. degree programs as well as a certificate program, will equip UAH students with credentials in high-tech fields.

(4) UAH announces new Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Lab

The facility, made possible by a donation from Dr. Louis and Beverly Weiner, will serve as one of the state-of-the-art research and collaborative teaching facilities in UAH's new Raymond B. Jones Engineering Building, currently under construction.
