The annual Tuscaloosa Bible Reading Marathon is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Which is an annual event where people of all ages and walks of life read the entire Bible from Genesis through the book of Revelation aloud for 80 continuous hours directly from the scripture and without commentary. Hosted by Hope 4 My City, volunteers sign up for 15 minute time slots to read The Bible, after which they pass the reading on to the next volunteer.
The 10th Annual Tuscaloosa Bible Reading Marathon will take place in front of the chapel of The First Baptist Church off of Greensboro Avenue in downtown Tuscaloosa. Which is across the street from the Tuscaloosa County Courthouse. Typically, not many people are in attendance during the readings. However, volunteers often express a sense of fulfillment and awe after reading from The Bible out loud in such a setting. As the power of the scripture leaps off of the pages when it is read out loud.
The Bible Reading will take place from Sunday, April 27th, 2025 through Wednesday, April 30th, 2025 leading up to The National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 01st, 2025. It takes 300 volunteers to read the entirety of The Bible in fifteen minutes time slots.
