March 23, 2025 - LEXINGTON, KY – The Auburn University men's basketball team advanced into the Sweet 16 with a win over Creighton
Freshman Guard Tahaad Petiford led the way for the Tiger with 23 points, six rebounds, and three assists off the bench.
Senior Forward/Center Johnni Broome had 8 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks for the Tigers. Senior Guard Chad Baker-Mazara contributed 17 points, two rebounds, and an assist. Senior Point Guard Denver Jones had 15 points and 3 assists.
Creighton led at the half 37 to 35 at the half; but Auburn broke the game open in the second half including a 10 to 0 run at one point to finish the game with a score of 82 to 70.
Auburn is coached by Bruce Pearl – the winningest coach in Auburn history.
"We knew Creighton was going to be as good as anybody we would see on the road to the Final Four. I feel that way," said Coach Pearl. "Hopefully this is something we could build on."
Auburn will play Michigan on Friday in Atlanta, GA. Out of 360 Division one college basketball teams only 16 make it this deep into the tournament.
