Terri LaPoint is challenging Mike Rogers in CD3

March 19, 2025 - Author, grassroots Republican activist, and investigative journalist Terri LaPoint has announced that she is running for Congress in the Third Congressional District against longtime incumbent Mike Rogers (R-Saks).

LaPoint confirmed to the Alabama Gazette that she is running in the Republican primary in 2026.

LaPoint is a member of the St. Clair County Republican Party, is the current President of the Republican Women of Trussville, and is a leader in the Alabama Republican Women.

She is the author of "Voices That Will Not Be Silenced", which claims to expose the dark underbelly of agencies that are supposed to protect children. An award-winning investigative journalist who has covered hundreds of cases of alleged medical kidnapping,

She is passionate about speaking out in support of unjustly separated families. She lives in Odenville and is on Facebook. LaPoint is a longtime critic of policies that remove children from the custody of their parents and families.

Rogers has represented CD3 since his election in 2002. Prior to that he served as the House Minority Leader in the Alabama House of Representatives. He previously served on the Calhoun County Commission. He is the current Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. The Alabama Gazette has reached out to Rogers' campaign team, and they have confirmed that he will be seeking a 13th term representing CD3.

Alabama's Third Congressional District was redrawn by a federal court in 2023 against the wishes of the State of Alabama so that it now includes Etowah County and no longer includes Macon or Russel County. There were other changes made by the court appointed special master.
