Draic Coakley launches Congressional campaign

March 20, 2025 – PELL CITY, AL - Draic Coakley launched his campaign for Congress with an address to the St. Clair County Republican Party at their meeting in Pell City.

Coakley is challenging incumbent Congressman Mike Rogers, who represents Alabama's Third Congressional District.

Coakley is a diesel mechanic in Talladega County.

Coakley dismissed Rogers as a "moderate" and declared that he was the far right candidate.

Coakley said that Democrats are elect young far left candidates to Congress like Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and that the Republicans need to elect young far right candidates to go to Congress and do battle with the far left.

"I will fight for you," Coakley promised if elected.

His websiste says that he would be, "A fighter for Alabama's third congressional district."

"In a world where hard work often goes unnoticed, Draic Coakley is the kind of man who never looks for accolades but earns them anyway. As a dedicated mechanic and resident of Alabama's Third Congressional District, Draic has spent his life fixing more than just Semi Trucks, he's been repairing trust, building relationships, and fighting for the working-class values that have long defined his beloved Heflin, Alabama."

"Growing up, Draic was raised on the principles of grit, integrity, and the belief that a man's word is his bond," the Coakley website continued. "These weren't just words to him, they were the unspoken rules of the community he calls home. From his early days turning wrenches on Semi Trucks to becoming a trusted professional in his trade, Draic has never been afraid to get his hands dirty for the sake of progress. But Draic's story isn't just about fixing trucks. It's about fixing a system that's left too many Alabamians behind."

"I don't have all the answers, but I know the ones who do: the people of this district," Coakley said on his website.

If elected, Coakley would be one of the youngest members of Congress.

Coakley's campaign launch comes on the heels of Odenville author and family rights activist Terri LaPoint's campaign announcement in CD3.

The Rogers campaign team has confirmed to the Alabama Gazette that he is running for another term. Rogers is currently the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee and has represented the very conservative Third Congressional District since 2002.

Rogers lives in Saks with his wife, Beth, who recently retired as an Alabama judge.

The Republican primary is on May 26, 2025.
