ALGOP Announces Qualifying for HD11 Special Election

February 28, 2025 - HOOVER, AL - The Alabama Republican Party announces the opening of candidate qualifying for the special election in State House District 11. Qualifying will begin on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and will close on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.

Individuals interested in running for the Republican nomination may qualify online at http://www.algop.org or in person at ALGOP Headquarters, located at 3505 Lorna Road, Hoover, AL 35216.

House District 11, which covers portions of Cullman and Blount Counties, was previously represented by State Representative Randall Shedd, who recently joined the staff of State Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger.

Alabama Republican Party Chairman John Wahl expressed gratitude for Rep. Shedd's service and welcomed his continued leadership in this new role:

"Randall Shedd has been a dedicated public servant, and we are grateful for his years of leadership in the Alabama House of Representatives. His commitment to the people of House District 11 and our state has been unwavering, and we look forward to working with him in his new position. The special election dates are as follows:

Special Primary Election: Tuesday, May 13, 2025

Special Primary Runoff (if needed): Tuesday, June 10, 2025

Special General Election: Tuesday, August 26, 2025
