The Chosen's "Last Supper" Series Coming Out In March

February 13, 2025 - "The Last Supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci is considered the most important mural painting in the world. And both religious and artistic enthusiasts around the world were horrified at how it was mocked in the Paris Olympics' opening ceremony last year. However, in a sign that modernity has not lost all of its sense of artistry, "The Chosen" series will be releasing its lavish and respectful three-part installment of "The Last Supper" in movie theaters across the country beginning on Friday, March 28th, 2025.

Billed as the first ever multi-season television show about the life of Jesus, "The Chosen" series has forayed from the small screen into the big screen in previous seasons. With Season 4 of "The Chosen" series now being available on Amazon Prime. With "The Chosen" being a historical drama based on the life of Jesus Christ and His time period; it is set in ancient Roman times when the Roman empire dominated first-century Israel.

Season 5 of "The Chosen" specifically takes place during the time period when the people of first-century Israel are welcoming Jesus as their king with His disciples eagerly anticipating His crowning as the long-awaited Messiah. However, to the surprise of those hoping for His ascension onto the throne, Jesus does not confront the Roman empire directly. Instead, He turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. Feeling that their power is threatened as a result of this high-minded Jesus, the religious and political leaders are then determined to ensure that this Passover meal will really be Jesus' last supper.

Jesus in "The Chosen" series is portrayed by Jonathan Roumie, a first-generation American who is of Irish and Syro-Lebanese descent with some Armenian heritage in his background, as well. Jesus in "The Chosen" series is the role for which Roumie has become known worldwide as his portrayal of Jesus is often praised for its humanity. Roumie has also stated that portraying Jesus Christ is more than an acting role for him, but "a profound calling."

Critics are already praising the quality of the cinematography and the scale and production of the costumes and sets used in Season 5 of "The Chosen". A series created by Dallas Jenkins, the son of Jerry B. Jenkins who is known for his "Left Behind" series. With the first installment of Season 5 of "The Chosen" set to be released in movie theaters on March 28th, the second installment being released the next week on April 04th, and the third installment set to be released on April 11th, 2025. Making all three installments being released in movie theaters across the country ahead of Easter this year, which falls on Sunday, April 20th, 2025.
