Tuscaloosa City elections are today

March 4, 2025 – TUSCALOOSA, AL - Voters go to the polls on Tuesday for their municipal elections.

In the Mayor's race Denson Ferrell II is challenging long time incumbent Walt Maddox. Maddox was the 2018 Democratic Party nominee for Governor.

These are also four contested city council races:

In City Council District 1: Que Chandler, Joe Eatmon and Matthew Wilson are all running for the office.

In City Council District 2: Dennis "Quick" Collins, Raevan Howard and Ashley R. Wheat are in a three way battle.

City Council District 3: Norman Crow is unopposed.

City Council District 4: Lee Busby is unopposed.

City Council District 5: Kip D. Tyner is unopposed.

In City Council District 6: John Faile, Eric Gaines and Lisa M. Young are running.

In City Council District 7: incumbent Cassius Lanier is facing a stiff challenge from Oliver "Maurice" Sealey.

Tuscaloosa, unlike many cities across the state, has an elected school board.

Board of Education chair: Eric M. Wilson is unopposed

Board of Education District 1: Tony V. Humphries faces Karen Thompson-Jackson.

Board of Education District 2: Kendra Williams is unopposed.

Board of Education District 3: Lesley Powell is unopposed.

Board of Education District 4: Clint Mountain is unopposed.

Board of Education District 5: Erica Grant is also unopposed.

Board of Education District 6: Marvin L. Lucas faces no opposition.

Board of Education District 7: Erskine E. Simmons is unopposed.

Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and will close at 7:00 p.m.
