Will Sellers sworn in for another term on the Alabama Supreme Court

January 22, 2025 – MONTGOMERY, AL - Alabama Supreme Court Associate Justice Will Sellers was recently sworn into his second term on the Alabama Supreme Court.

Governor Kay Ivey appointed Sellers in 2017. He was elected in 2018 and was re-elected in 2024. His current term will conclude in 2031.

At the simple ceremony, Justice Sellers said, "I'm thankful to Gov. Ivey who initially appointed me to this position and I'm grateful to the people of Alabama who re-elected me for another 6 years. Serving on Alabama's Supreme Court is a high honor. Rest assured I will continue to work hard and make certain that our laws provide the stability and continuity necessary for our State to thrive."

Sellers is a graduate of Hillsdale College. He has a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. Sellers also has earned a Masters' degree in law and letters in taxation from New York University.

Sellers spent 28 years working at a private law practice in Montgomery.

Sellers is a member of the Alabama State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, and has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Tax Court, and the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Sellers is involved in many civic and community organizations in the Montgomery area, including the United Way, the Business Committee for the Arts, and the YMCA. He has been elected to the Electoral College.

Sellers previously served as a partner in the Montgomery office of Balch & Bingham, LLP. A major part of Sellers' practice has involved litigation against the Internal Revenue Service and the Alabama Department of Revenue.

Sellers chaired Governor Kay Ivey's 2010 and 2014 campaigns for lieutenant governor. Sellers formerly was counsel for the House GOP Caucus. He has held a number of positions within the Alabama Republican Party.

Will is married to the former Lee Grant, and they have three adult children. They are active members of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Montgomery.
