Tuberville stresses the importance of getting an immigration court in the state of Alabama

January 22, 2024 – WASHINTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) called on the federal government to place an immigration court within the state of Alabama so that the people of Alabama will, "have their own set of deportation lawyers and judges."

President Donald J. Trump (R) has made securing the southern border a priority of his second administration. Trump, who campaigned heavily on immigration issues, has promised the greatest deportation of illegal immigrants in the history of this country – starting with criminal immigrants.

The prospect of increasing deportations and thus immigration hearings has brought significant attention to the federal immigration courts. An attorney reached out to the Alabama Gazette with their concerns about the federal immigration courts. The Gazette asked Tuberville for his take on the problem during a recent press call. "With President Trump's effort to increase scrutiny on immigration law, why does Alabama not have a dedicated immigration court," the Gazette asked Sen. Tuberville. "It is my understanding that most of these cases are presently being assigned to a court in Oakdale, Louisiana – a 7 and a half drive from Birmingham making it difficult for Alabama attorneys to appear on behalf of clients there?"

"We have asked the same question to the Whitehouse," Senator Tuberville answered. "I think what you are going to see is the spread of operations of deportation especially for lawyers and judges. It takes a long time to get this set up. You have to remember now that President Trump has only been in office only for a couple of days. They had no authority to that point - zero. The Biden administration would not help – none whatsoever and so all of this is taking place now in the White House with some people. Our DOJ is not in place. We don't have an attorney general. We have a makeshift group because the Democrats are fighting every step of the way of putting in any confirmations for President Trump, allowing his team to actually go to work. God bless Tom Hollman and his group are deportating illegals as we speak."

"We have to have a situation where our lawyers our judges can make decisions in our state of Alabama," Tuberville continued. "We have made that known to the Whitehouse; but again, as they tell me - Coach just wait we have got a lot of things we have got to do and we have to make sure that all of these things stick. I promise you that they are working very hard; we just need a little help from Democrats to be able get together what I call a coaching staff for President Trump; but they are fighting us every step of the way. It just shows you how corrupt the deep state is; but that's fine we are going to get it done to make sure that people in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana have their own set of deportation lawyers and judges."
