Rogers and Tuberville celebrate Trump's focus on border security

January 20, 2025 - Washington, D.C. – A new administration means new national priorities and one area where President Donald J. Trump (R) differs from President Joseph R. Biden is on the border. Trump signed a dozen executive orders intended to slow the rate of illegal immigration and get some control over who comes into this country.

U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL03), the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement in support of Executive Actions by President Donald Trump to secure our southern border. U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) similarly praised President Trump for

"Border security is national security," Rep. Rogers declared. "The actions taken by President Trump are crucial to help stem the tide of illegal immigrants, lethal drugs, criminals, and terrorists crossing our southern border. Enhanced support from the Department of Defense will help ensure law enforcement agencies can secure our border."

Rogers promised close cooperation with the Trump administration on a budget that will prioritize defending America's borders.

"I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues to enact a reconciliation bill that will provide a permanent solution to our border security needs," Rogers stated.

Sen. Tuberville said that the American people have given Trump (who won both the electoral college and the popular vote convincingly) a mandate for change.

"After four years of dangerous open borders, soaring inflation, out-of-control crime, and disastrous foreign policy, the national nightmare is finally over," Sen. Tuberville said. "The American people overwhelmingly delivered a mandate on November 5: they want President Trump's agenda, and they want it now. During his first term, President Trump delivered the most secure border in history, a booming economy, law and order in our communities, and peace on the world stage-and today he will pick right back up where he left off. I look forward to working hand in glove with President Trump to Make America Great Again."

"It's a new day in America," said Tuberville on his X social media site. "I couldn't be more excited to work with @POTUS as a legislative sledgehammer in the Senate. About time we start delivering to the American people."

President Trump has signed a number of executive orders dealing with stemming the flow of illegal aliens into this country. One order ended a controversial program that transported undocumented workers into the country. Another order ended a popular app that helped illegal border crossers get government assistance. The most controversial order would ban birthright citizenship for the children of illegal aliens. That order has already been challenged by the attorneys general of 18 blue states, including California, Illinois, and New York.
