The people's voice of reason
February 1, 2025 - CULLMAN, AL - Health Freedom Alabama (HFA) held a Legislative Update in preparation for the new legislative session which will begin next week. The event was hosted by Dr. Nathan Lewis and Align Alabama on Saturday.
Stephanie Durnin, Director of Health Freedom Alabama was the featured speaker. Director Durnin discussed the organization's history, their past accomplishments and their goals in this session and beyond.
HFA was part of the grassroots coalition that worked to have the COVID vaccine removed from the list of mandatory school vaccines in 2021. They also supported the Alabama law signed by Governor Ivey last May, prohibiting the manufacture, sale or distribution of synthetic "Frankenmeat" in the state. They continue to work towards passing the Alabama Health Freedom Act, which would protect employees and employers from government overreach and mandates affecting public health.
Director Durnin said in a statement:
"We're going to continue working to pass the Health Freedom Act, to protect all Alabamians. All politicians be warned - Health Freedom is on a roll, and we won't be stopped."
HFA will be working in the next session to support measures to increase the medical age of majority from 14 to 18 years of age. They will also work towards prohibiting the use of state or federal taxpayer funds to advertise vaccines using billboards, radio/TV or any other media. Their primary focus will be on the passage of the Alabama Health Freedom Act.
Health Freedom Alabama grew out of the grassroots movement and statewide collaboration to pass a bill to ban vaccine passports in Alabama during the 2021 Legislative session. The bill prohibiting this became law on May 24, 2021. HFA works to protect and strengthen parental and human rights regarding healthcare decisions in Alabama. They promote education, empowering the public and protecting inalienable rights by working with legislators and other officials.
HFA is actively involved in the legislative process and works to be the first line of defense against laws and legislators that would mandate medical procedures for Alabamians. They have just become certified as a nonprofit 501(c)4 organization.
