Barry Moore reflects on the 118th Congress

January 13, 2025 – the 118th Congress is over and the 119th has begun. Congressman Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) is back for his third term; but much has changed. He no longer represents the Second Congressional District. Shomari Figures (D-Mobile) takes over in the redrawn CD2. Rep. Moore is now representing the court redrawn CD1 – replacing Congressman Jerry Carl (R-Mobile) whom he defeated in the Republican primary.

Most of the people in Mobile moved from CD1 to CD2. The Elmore and Autauga County portions of CD2 are now in CD6. The Black Belt portions of CD3 are now in CD2. The southern half of the Wiregrass, including Moore's native Coffee County are now with Baldwin County and most he rural/suburban portions of Mobile County in CD1. Much of rural southwest Alabama – outside of the gulf coast are now in CD2. The state fought these court mandated changes but lost in federal court.

"As I prepare for this transition, I feel deep gratitude mixed with sadness in leaving behind the incredible communities in Conecuh, Crenshaw, Elmore, Pike, Butler, Bullock, Montgomery, and Barbour Counties in Alabama-02," said Rep. Moore. "The relationships I've built here are invaluable, and I am thankful for your trust and support throughout this journey. Each interaction has enriched my experience as your representative."

"As I prepare to transition from representing Alabama's 2nd Congressional District to the 1st, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we have accomplished together over the past year," Moore wrote to constituents: "Constituent Services: It has been an honor to serve you. My office resolved over 5,684 cases, returning more than $13 million to constituents through diligent casework. Each success story has reinforced my belief in the importance of public service and our commitment to helping those in need."

"I co-sponsored 414 pieces of legislation and introduced 22 bills aimed at addressing critical issues affecting our community," said Moore. "Your voices have shaped my work, and I am proud of what we have achieved together."

"Team Moore held over 300 mobile office hours across our district, ensuring that my team was accessible to you when you needed assistance," said Moore. "Additionally, we welcomed constituents through 148 Capitol tours, allowing you to see firsthand how your government operates."

"Through grant letters of support, we secured nearly $7 million for various projects that will improve our communities and improve lives," Moore added. "Throughout this Congress, House Republicans have worked diligently to hold the Biden Administration accountable and address the concerns of the American people."

Moore listed as his key achievements in the 118th Congress:

1,028 hearings held to investigate various issues.

985 testimonies from Biden officials before Congress.

1,557 oversight letters sent to ensure transparency and accountability.

117 subpoenas issued to investigate misconduct.

"These efforts reflect our commitment to restoring integrity in government and ensuring that your voices are heard," Moore said.

Moore expressed his hope that the return of former President Donald J. Trump (R) to the White House will bring positive change for the nation.

"As we look ahead, I am filled with hope and optimism with the return of President Trump to the White House," said Moore. "His commitment to the American people and reinstating policies that put the American people's priorities first will be pivotal as we work together to restore our nation's strength and prosperity. President Trump's return to the White House represents a renewed focus on American families' needs, and I am excited about the positive changes that lie ahead."

Barry Moore has represented Alabama in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2021! From 2010 to 2018 he served in the Alabama House of Representatives. He is a small businessman and veteran. He is an Auburn graduate.
