Alabama Leads Coalition of Female Attorneys General, Senior Officials in Letter Urging Swift Confirmation of Pam Bondi

January 17, 2025 - MONTGOMERY, AL - A coalition of female state attorneys general and senior legal officials have expressed their strong support for the nomination of Pam Bondi as the next United States Attorney General. In a letter sent today to Senate Majority Leader John Thune, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, and Ranking Member Dick Durbin, the officials urged the Senate to swiftly confirm Bondi's nomination.

"Pam Bondi is an excellent selection for U.S. Attorney General. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated her commitment to the rule of law and the impartial, equal application of it," stated Attorney General Steve Marshall. "On Day 1, Pam will be ready to lead and to restore the credibility of the U.S. Department of Justice and, rest assured, Alabama will benefit from her partnership."

The letter recounts in detail the many ways that the outgoing administration has prioritized radical gender ideology over the needs and concerns of women, undermining important protections for women and girls in areas like incarceration, human trafficking prevention, and domestic violence. These policies, driven by Executive Order 13988, have eroded women's privacy and safety while threatening state resources.

Chief Counsel Katherine Robertson added, "Our country is ready to turn the page on a dark chapter of the USDOJ, particularly for women and girls. Early on, Merrick Garland's administration lost sight of its mission to fight crime and instead expended its efforts to make life worse for America's women and girls. I can think of no one more qualified than Pam to right the many wrongs of the last four years. She is simply the right Attorney General for her time."

Throughout her career, Pam Bondi has been a tireless advocate for crime victims. She placed a special emphasis on fighting the scourge of human trafficking and domestic violence in Florida, which disproportionately impact women victims.
