The people's voice of reason
NBC has announced that their virtual open call auditions for "The Voice" will be held on Thursday, January 233rd, 2025 and Friday, January 24th, 2025. "The Voice" is NBC's singing reality competition television series that first premiered on April 26th, 2011. Hosted by Carson Daly, "The Voice" aims to find unsigned singing talent drawn from the public with the requirement that singers be at least 13 years of age to enter.
For the virtual open call auditions, singers will be granted one-minute and thirty seconds, or ninety seconds total, to introduce themselves by stating their name and the song they will be singing as well as sing a verse and a chorus of one song of the singer's choosing. Once the audition is submitted, a member of "The Voice" casting team will review the audition and the auditionees will be contacted via e-mail as to whether or not they proceed to the next round.
While singing reality competition shows tend to favor the untrained voice over the trained voice, Alabamians have fared well in singing reality competition series. With last year's winner of "The Voice", Asher HaVon, hailing from Selma, Alabama. Bo Bice from Huntsville being a runner up in the 2005 season of "American Idol". The famous Ruben Stoddard being the winner of the 2003 season of "American Idol" with Stoddard hailing from Birmingham, Alabama. And Alabama claiming another winner of "American Idol" in 2006 with the Birmingham, Alabama native, Taylor Hicks. Also made famous in last year's season of "American Idol", is Tristan Harper from McIntosh, Alabama and a member of the Choctaw Indian tribe.
Additionally, Alabamians have made their mark in the non-singing reality competitions such as Hannah Brown, the star of Season 15 of "The Bachelorette" from Tuscaloosa; Noah Galloway, an army veteran from Shelby County and third-place finisher on Season 20 of "Dancing with the Stars" in 2015; Julie Oliver Gentry from Birmingham and a cast member of "The Real World" in 1992; and last year's winner of "MasterChef Junior", Bryson McGlynn, an Auburn resident and student at Fox Run School.
