The people's voice of reason
November 25, 2024- Tuscaloosa, AL- The Alabama Crimson Tide suffer their biggest loss of the season to the Oklahoma Sooners in a convincing 24-3 rout.
Alabama traveled to Norman, Oklahoma with their playoff hopes very much alive and left with those hopes smothered out. The Tide were able to open the game with a defensive stop leading to a drive of their own that resulted in a field goal to take the lead 3-0. That was the end of the scoring on the night. After that, Oklahoma would prove to have the formula for stopping a run game that was quarterback-centric on a night when the pass game was non-existent.
The Sooners would finish the Tide off with a 24-0 nothing scoring run that started by tying the game with a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter.
With 45 seconds left in the first half Oklahoma would add a touchdown to go up 10-3 at the half. Alabama received the second half kick-off, however that drive ended with a turnover. Turnovers were a common theme of the night for the Crimson Tide, having 3 interceptions thrown by quarterback Jalen Milroe. There was a temporary bright spot late in the third quarter when Milroe connected with Ryan Williams on a deep pass in the back corner of the endzone that was later called back due to a flag for illegal touching when the side judge determined Williams was improperly aligned before the snap of the ball. The Tide rushed for 70 yards on the night and passed for 164. This was quite the contrast from the last time fans saw them in Tuscaloosa.
This loss all but eliminates the Tide from playoff contention and leaves many questions to be answered, but they won't have much time to lick their wounds, as they have the Auburn Tigers coming to town on November 30th. The Tigers are coming off of a huge emotional win, in which they defeated the red-hot Texas A&M Aggies in a 4-overtime thriller. The Tide and Tigers will kickoff at 2:30 in Tuscaloosa in the annual Iron Bowl.
