The people's voice of reason
November 11, 2024 – WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL03), the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, released a statement in support of President Donald J. Trump's (R) announcement that he will nominate Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-New York) to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N.
"Rep. Elise Stefanik is an excellent choice to represent the interests of our nation at the U.N.," said Chairman Rogers in a statement. "Rep. Stefanik is a proven leader and who has never hesitated to go to bat for President Trump. As a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Stefanik has worked tirelessly to boost U.S. national security and conduct robust oversight of the Department of Defense. Rep. Stefanik is a fighter who will promote President Trump's America First priorities and counter the malign influence of our adversaries at the U.N. I am proud to support my dear friend, Rep. Elise Stefanik, as President Trump's Ambassador to the U.N."
President-elect Donald J. Trump has offered Representative Elise Stefanik, Republican of New York, the role of U.N. ambassador in his upcoming administration.
Rep. Stefanik – age 40 - is a vocal Trump supporter. She is the Chair of the House Republican conference and serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Mr. Trump called Stefanik a "strong, tough and smart America First fighter."
House Republicans presently have a 216 to 209 member majority in the vote count for control of the House of Representatives next year. Republicans need two more seats to fall to them to retain the majority (218 seats) – and they will need a third if Stefanik leaves.
Stefanik, who replaced disgraced GOP Representative Liz Cheney in the leadership, is presently the House Conference Chair – the number 4 Republican in the leadership. There is expected to be a battle for the post in the leadership that she leaves vacant.
