Entries are now being accepted for the 19th Annual Vicksburg Christmas Caroling Contest hosted by V105.5FM. While finalists will compete live at the Vicksburg Convention Center on December 12th, the preliminary entries are to be e-mailed via video to Christmas@vicksburgv105.com. There is no charge for the preliminary entries and the deadline to enter the Christmas Caroling Contest is on December 03rd, 2024 by five o'clock in the afternoon.
This year, the Christmas Caroling Contest features $10,000 dollars in prizes to the finalists. And admission tickets to the final round cost only $5 dollars. A winner and runners-up will be determined for each division and all finalists will receive a portion of the prize money. The judging for the contest is based on the three categories of the overall quality of the performance, musicality and musicianship, and the entertainment value of the performance. Winners will have their song played on V105.5FM on their Christmas Playback Show on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
The final round at the Vicksburg Convention Center will be emceed by Mark Jones, who is also known by his former radio name, "Mark in the Dark". The three judges for this year's competition will be selected from the Jackson, Mississippi area. And the contest emphasizes that those who are selected to perform from the preliminary judging must be available to perform live on December 12th at the Vicksburg Convention Center to qualify for any of the prize money.
