Tide dominates Missouri

October 26, 2024- TUSCALOOSA, AL.- The University of Alabama Crimson Tide got back in the win column with a 34 to 0 win over the Tigers of Missouri in week nine of the college football season.

The Tide have not met the expectations of many this season, but they showed a determined effort against the #21 ranked tigers. The running game has been lacking for the majority of this campaign but there was an obvious emphasis Saturday on incorporating the ground game into the game plan.

Coach Kalen DeBoer has pointed out that Alabama has been unable to play as a complete team, adding that the defense and offense have not showed up with the same success on the same day.

The team was able to rush for 271 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Tigers, while the defense turned Missouri over with 3 interceptions. There are still a lot of questions on both sides of the ball. While Tide fans are happy with the win, the turnovers all came with the Tigers' backup quarterback, Drew Pyne in the game. Brady Cook went out with an apparent hand injury in the first half after he hit it on his offensive lineman's helmet. He was already hampered by an ankle injury that he incurred the previous week against Auburn.

While the game was still 13-0 at halftime, the Tide came out and incorporated the quarterback run game and Justice Haynes put an exclamation point on the day with a hard run in which he plowed down a Missouri defender for his best carry of the day. The Tide faithful are hoping this game will be a building block for a strong finish to cap Coach Deboer's inaugural season in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama improves to 6-2 on the year with a 3-2 record in conference and have a bye week coming up before traveling to Baton Rouge for a showdown with the LSU Tigers on November 9th. LSU lost to Texas A&M this week to fall to 6 and 2 on the season.

Both LSU and Alabama will go into that Nov. 9 matchup with a 6 and 2 record meaning that the loser's playoff hopes would be effectively over.
