Auburn basketball will tip off on Thursday

The official launch of the Auburn basketball season will begin on Thursday, October 17 at Toomer's Corner.

The Auburn Athletics Department and the City of Auburn have teamed up for an evening basketball celebration that includes: live music, vendors, shopping, sports and more culminating with a concert by renowned country music superstar, singer and songwriter Cole Swindell.

The full event is free and open to the public. Fans with deeper pockets can purchase enhanced experiences through VBIP packages which include all-inclusive food and beverage, meet and greet access, and more.

The Auburn men's basketball team is coached by Bruce Pearl.

Pearl is a three-time SEC Coach of the Year. In 2019 he led the Tigers to their only Final Four appearance in program history. In 1995 Pearl won a NCAA Division II National Championship. He is in his 11th season at Auburn and his 30th overall season. He was previously the head coach at the Universities of Tennessee, Milwaukee, and South Indiana. He has 662 career wins and is number 46 all-time – 200 wins in his ten seasons at Auburn where he trails only Joel Eaves (213 wins).

Projected standouts on this year's team include: 6'6" Junior Guard Reed Trapp, 6'9" Senior Forward Addarin Scott, 6'7" Senior Forward Chaney Johnson, 6'11" Graduate student Center Dylan Cardwell.

The Auburn men's basketball team will open on October 27 on the road at Furman in South Carolina.

The Auburn women's basketball team is coach by Johnnie Harris.

Harris is entering her fourth year as head coach for Auburn women's basketball in 2023-24. She is a long-time Southeastern Conference assistant and 2018 WBCA National Assistant Coach of the Year. Last year she led Auburn to a 20-win season and an NCAA tournament berth.

Possible starters include: 6'2" Senior Forward Celia Sumbane, 5'9" Sophomore Guard Talia Scott, 5'10" Junior Guard Kaitlyn Duhon, 5'8" Senior Guard Mar'shaun Bostic, 6'4" Sophomore Center Savannah Scott, and 6'1" Graduate Student Forward Taylen Collins.

The Auburn women's opening game will be on Halloween (October 31) on the road at LaGrange.
