The people's voice of reason
November 5, 2024 - MONTGOMERY, AL - It is finally here - the day we have been anticipating all year. No its not Christmas - It is election day. Four years ago, about 30,000 voters (less than .01 percent of Americans in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Arizona ended President Donald J. Trump's presidency.
He is back and seeking a return to the White House. Four years of legal scheming by the Biden administration has thus far failed to thwart Trump's comeback. After Trump crushed President Joesph R Biden in a June debate, powerful Democratic party insiders led by former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi successfully carried out a plot to force Biden out of the race. Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democratic Party's standard bearer.
Trump chose Senator J.D. Vance (Ohio) as his VP choice. Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz as hers.
The debate between Trump and Harris was largely inconsequential. It failed to have a lasting impact. Vance dominated Waltz in the VP debate; but it is questionable if that had any long term consequences.
Independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the race in September and endorsed Trump. Tulsi Gabbards, Elon Musk, Nikki Haley, and Joe Rogan all endorsed Trump. Former Congresswoman Elizabeth Cheney (R-Wyoming) was the most notable endorser of Harris, along with former Presidents Barack H. Obama and Bill Clinton.
Alabama has four congressional races on the ballot. Caroleene Dobson (R) and Shomari Figures (D) are locked in a battle for Alabama's redrawn Second Congressional District. Incumbent Congressmembers Gary Palmer, Terri Sewell, and Barry Moore also face challengers.
Associate Justice Sarah Stewart (R) is facing Judge Greg Griffin (D) in the battle for Chief Justice.
There are a host of other judicial and county positions on the balots across Alabama.
There is a statewide constitutional amendment allowing Franklin County to sell 255 acres of trust property in Walker and Fayette Counties to developers.
Additionally there are county local amendments on the ballot in many counties
