Palmer says that burdensome regulations are driving up prices

November 1, 2024 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said that in the last three years inflation has cost the average family $1,100 a month. Palmer said in an email to constituents that the growing regulatory burden which has ballooned under the Biden-Harris administration is contributing to these costs.

"Due to the policies pushed by the Biden-Harris administration for the past three years, the cost of groceries has gone up over $1,100 per month for the average family," said Rep. Palmer. "Our border is wide open, violent crime in our communities has increased, and our allies across the world are being threatened and have lost trust in the Biden-Harris Administration. When disaster struck Florida and North Carolina, FEMA claimed they were short on funding to help yet they had over $1 billion available to help illegal immigrants."

"My House Republican colleagues and I have been working to counteract these policies and put the safety and well-being of Americans as our top priority," Palmer continued. "As a member of the Oversight and Accountability Committee, we have worked to bring accountability to the Biden-Harris administration. On the Energy and Commerce Committee, we have been working to lower energy prices for the American people and roll back the ridiculous and extremely expensive regulations that are driving up the price of groceries and everything else."

Palmer has endorsed former President Donald J. Trump (R) in Tuesday's presidential election. Palmer said that House Republicans are committed to implementing solutions to many of these problems if Trump is elected – and they are not barred by a presidential veto from the President whose administration passed the burdensome regulations in the first place.

"On the House Republican Policy Committee, I have been working on educating our members on sound policy solutions," explained Palmer. "Should Trump be elected, we are prepared to get to work on day one and put America first."

Republicans are desperately trying to hold on to their narrow majority in the House of Representatives. 10 or 12 swing districts including Alabama's Second Congressional District where Republican Caroleene Dobson faces Democrat Shomari Figures. Democrats are hoping to flip CD2 from Republican to Democratic control. With Joe Manchin's retirement in West Virginia and Jon Tester's struggles in Montana Republicans are extremely likely to take control of the U.S. Senate for the first time in four years. If Trump wins the White House, Republicans could potentially have control of both Houses of Congress, the courts (via Trump's 3 appointees in his previous term) and the White House. If Kamala Harris wins it is likely that she will have to deal with a divided government – as Biden has had to since the 2022 midterms when Republicans took control of the House of Representatives.

Gary Palmer faces Democrat Elizabeth Anderson on Tuesday. Palmer is a heavy favorite.
