Lee Greenwood endorses Caroleene Dobson

November 1, 2024 – Country music superstar Lee Greenwood has endorsed Caroleene Dobson in Alabama's highly contested Second Congressional District race.

Dobson grew up on her family's fifth generation farm near Beatrice, Alabama in Monroe County. She excelled in both rodeo and academics, becoming a national merit scholar. She has a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a law degree from the Baylor School of Law. She practices real estate law and lives in Montgomery with her two children.

CD2 is an open seat because incumbent Barry Moore (R-Enterprise) was redistricted by the court into CD1 – where he is the Republican nominee on Tuesday.

"Your vote for Caroleen Dobson is a voice for faith, family and the future of America," said Greenwood. "Carolene is the America first Congresswoman that President Trump needs in District to grow the majority in the House of Representatives."

"This race is one of the most important and competitive in the nation and every vote counts," said Greenwood. "On election day we must vote to protect our children, reclaim our economy, and secure our country's future. God Bless you and your family and by the way – God bless the USA."

Perry Hooper is a former State Representative, the 2016 Trump Victory Chair, and a columnist with the Alabama Gazette.

"President Trump has laid out a blueprint for an America that is prosperous, strong, and free," said Hooper. "But to bring this vision to life, we need a Congress that will fight alongside him-not against him. We need representatives who understand that the power of this nation lies not in the halls of Washington, but in the hearts and minds of everyday Americans. This is our chance to send a clear message to the radical left: we will not let you dismantle our nation. We will not let you take away our freedoms. We will not let you dictate our future."

Lee Greenwood, age 82, is a country music legend as a singer-songwriter. He is also a skilled saxophonist. Over his career he has had 22 singles on the Hot Country Songs list with 7 singles reaching number one. He is best known for his "God Bless the U.S.A." which was originally released in the spring of 1984.

God Bless the USA was included in a movie about President Ronald Reagan. It was performed at the 1984 Republican National Convention and it has become a staple of Republican campaigns beginning with George H. Bush in 1988. The song became very popular during the Gulf War and following 9/11. Greenwood performed the song at both the 2024 Republican National Convention and President Donald J. Trump's closing arguments speech Sunday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Greenwood who was born in a Los Angeles suburb and raised on his grandparent's farm in Sacramento has been an active performer/musician since 1962.

Dobson faces Democratic Party nominee former U.S. Deputy Attorney General Shomari Figures.

The Second Congressional District seat has been held by a Republican 58 out of the last 60 years; but has been racially gerrymandered by a federal court in Atlanta to make it likely that it will be won by a Democrat. The race is being closely watched nationally because if the Democrats succeed in flipping the seat then there is a strong likelihood that control of the U.S. House of Representatives could also flip to the Democratic Party.

Polls will open at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday and close at 7:00 a.m. Alabama has no early voting and you cannot vote electronically with your computer or handheld device. There is no same day voter registration in Alabama. You must have a valid photo ID and vote at your assigned polling place in order to participate in any Alabama election.
