Katie Britt said that murdered nursing student: "Laken Riley would be alive today if the Biden-Harris Administration had stronger border security and interior immigration enforcement policies in place"

October 17, 2024 - WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Alabama) has published a new article at the FOX News website in which she criticized former President Bill Clinton (D) for his remarks in Columbus, Georgia, this week. During the event, President Clinton tried to blame President Trump's opposition to a Biden border proposal for the tragic murder of Laken Riley saying, "A young woman who had been killed by an immigrant. . . if they'd all been properly vetted that probably wouldn't have happened

Laken Riley is Jose Antonio Ibarra, a 26-year-old migrant from Venezuela. Ibarra is a Venezuelan national who crossed the U.S. southern border illegally in September 2022 and was paroled and released into our the United States by the Biden-Harris Administration.

Bill Clinton claimed that had the Congress passed the border legislation that the Biden-Harris administration advocated then the Administration would have vetted the illegal immigrants Biden is allowing into the country and Ibarra's violent past would have prevented the administration from paroling him into the country – where he assassinated the young nursing student in Georgia. That statement by Clinton has been shown to be false as the Biden-Harris administration had already paroled Ibarra into the country, before the border deal had been negotiated – thus passing it would have done nothing to save Miss Riley.

Senator Britt reacted to President Clinton's remarks, saying, "What President Clinton refused to admit is that this is a conscious choice the Biden-Harris Administration has made. No one is forcing them to parole hundreds of thousands of poorly vetted individuals into communities across our country, and they could end their dangerous, unprecedented abuse of immigration parole today if they wanted to."

"Laken Riley would be alive today if the Biden-Harris Administration had stronger border security and interior immigration enforcement policies in place. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have willfully, recklessly, and unlawfully allowed poorly vetted individuals, including Laken Riley's accused murderer, to unleash havoc on American families nationwide," Katie Britt continued.

President Biden halted construction of the border wall immediately after he was elected and dismantled the reforms to our immigration policies that President Trump had put in place. The Biden administration has spent over a hundred billion dollars resettling immigrants, including Ibarra, into this country because immigrants vote Democratic at much, much higher rates than Americans whose grandparents were born in this country.

Earlier this year, Senators Britt and Ted Budd (R-North Carolina) introduced the bipartisan Laken Riley Act, the Senate companion to H.R. 7511. Representative Mike Collins' (R-Georgia) legislation passed the House in an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 251-170.

The Laken Riley Act would require U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to arrest illegal aliens who commit theft, burglary, larceny, or shoplifting offenses and would mandate that these aliens are detained until they are removed from the United States so they cannot reoffend and commit further crimes. The legislation would ensure that States have standing to bring civil actions against federal officials who refuse to enforce immigration law or who violate the law.

Senate Democrats have twice blocked the common sense bill from coming to the floor for a vote in the Senate.

Katie Britt was elected to the Senate in 2022.
