Israel expands the war in the Levant all the way to Tehran

October 26, 2024 – bombs were falling on Tehran – Iran's capital – early morning on Saturday. The attacks, which Irael says are precision strikes on military targets – is in response to missile attacks on Israel by Iran.

"In response to months of continuous attacks from the regime in Iran against the State of Israel – right now the Israel Defense Forces [IDF] is conducting precise strikes on military targets in Iran," said IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

Israel reports that it's military is "fully mobilized," for war.

Israel's attack followed two massive missile attacks on Israel in recent months.

"Like every other sovereign country in the world, the State of Israel has the right and the duty to respond," Admiral Hagari said. "We will do whatever necessary to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel."

The bombings appear to have targeted Iran's missile factories. According to some reports the strikes have destroyed the backbone of Iran's missile industry. The Israelis also targeted Iran's most advanced air defense systems. Israel was able to successfully fly dozens of jet aircraft either into Iranian air space or just close enough that they were able to fire precision guided weapons striking targets as far away as Tehran – Iran's capital is the northeast of the country.

The Biden-Harris administration asked Israel not to attack Iran's nuclear sites or its oil facility. Bombings of Iranian oil production facilities would have triggered panicked buying of oil futures and likely would have translated into higher oil and gas prices across the planet.

The United States has increased its military presence in Israel sending another 100 U.S. troops to the country. https://www.alabamagazette.com/story/2024/10/01/news/more-us-troops-deploy-to-israel/4332.html

Hardline members of the Iranian government have called for Iran to launch a counterattack.

The United States hopes to prevent an all-out regional conflict – especially before the November 5 election.

Saudi Arabia and most of the Gulf states are urging Iran to show restraint.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Israel would like to avoid a broader Middle East war.

Israel is already fighting Hamas in Gaza and has crossed the border into Lebanon to fight Hezbollah.

Former President Donald J. Trump (R) spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu earlier this month. U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) told the Associated Press that Trump told Netanyahu, "Do what you have to do." Trump is seeking a second term as President of the United States when Americans go to the polls on November 5.

If Iran chooses to retaliate, they are in a far more vulnerable position than they were pre-air strikes; because Israel has reportedly destroyed much of their air defenses. If they attack Israel now, Israel would be able to inflict even more damage to Iran's military as well as deliver potentially economically devastating strikes on Iran's energy sector including nuclear sites.

Following the attack, President Joseph R. Biden (D) told reporters, "I hope that this is the end."
