Alabama Leaders honor first responders

October 28, 2024 – Monday was National First Responders Day and Alabama leaders took time out of their day to salute those who serve and protect our communities.

Governor Kay Ivey (R) shared a video statement saluting first responders on her X social media account.

"Here in Alabama, public safety is paramount," wrote Gov. Ivey on X. "Our law enforcement, firefighters, EMTs and paramedics carry this mission, stepping up every day to put their lives on the line. So, today and every day, we say a big thank you! Happy National First Responders Day!"

Speaker of the Alabama House honored National First Responders Day by thanking the policemen, firemen, and paramedics for what they do to protect Alabama communities and be the first on the scene at accidents, fires, and medical emergencies.

"Alabama is a state that proudly backs the blue, supports first responders, and prioritizes public safety," said Speaker Ledbetter on his X social media account. "These brave men & women risk their lives daily to protect and serve our communities, and they deserve our gratitude. Happy National First Responders Day to Alabama's heroes."

Congressman Dale Strong (R-AL05) added his own comments on X.

"As a lifelong firefighter and EMT, I know first-hand the dedication of first responders to protecting the lives of others," said Rep. Strong. "Today, on National First Responders Day, we celebrate the incredible courage of those dedicated to keeping our communities safe."

U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Alabama) also thanked the first responders for all that they do to make Alabama a better place.

"On #NationalFirstRespondersDay, we honor the courageous men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our communities," said Sen. Britt on X. "We thank you for your service-Alabama stands with you!"

Congressman Gary Palmer (R-AL06) shared a X statement from House Republicans.

"Our nation's first responders put their lives on the line day and night for the health and safety of our communities," wrote Palmer and the House Republican Caucus. "Thank you for all you do! #NationalFirstRespondersDay."

"Thank you to all our first responders who protect our communities and work to save lives every day," added U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama).
