Voters must register to vote by October 21 to participate in November 5 election

October 7,2024 Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen (R) issued a statement to remind Alabamians to register to vote before the General Election. Alabama does not have election day voter registration. Secretary of State Allen is reminding Alabama citizens that the deadline to register to vote before the November 5, 2024 General Election is Monday, October 21, 2024. Voters who register on October 22 are not going to be able to participate in this year's presidential election.

"The right of eligible United States citizens to cast a ballot in a fair and secure election is one of the hallmarks of our constitutional republic," Allen said. "I encourage all eligible Alabama citizens to register to vote and make plans to head to the polls on November 5."

Electronic voter registration may be completed by visiting https://www.sos.alabama.gov/alabama-votes/voter/register-to-vote.

A paper voter registration form may be delivered in person or by mail to your local Board of Registrars.

To be eligible to vote in Alabama, you must be a citizen of the United States, you must reside in Alabama, and be 18 years old on or before election day. One must not be barred from voting due to a disqualifying felony conviction or have been judged "mentally incompetent" by a court of law.

There is no early or electronic voting in Alabama. Persons with a valid reason may request an absentee ballot. You must vote at your assigned polling place and have a valid photo ID to participate in any Alabama election.

The polls open election day at 7:00 am and close at 7:00 pm.

Cumulative election results will be posted on the Alabama Secretary of State's website at http://www.AlabamaVotes.gov.
