Iran launches missile attack on Israel: Sens. Britt and Tuberville support Israel

October 1, 2024 – Washington – the government of the nation of Israel announced that it is under missile attack from the nation of Iran. U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-Alabama) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) were both quick to release short statements to their X accounts reiterating their support for Israel in its ongoing war with Iran and their terrorist proxies.

Senator Katie Boyd Britt said, "Israel, America stands with you and your people. We are praying with you as you weather attacks from Iran and the terrorists they back."

Senator Tommy Tuberville said, "I will ALWAYS stand in support of Israel and its right to defend itself."

The White House reports that President Biden and Vice President Harris are monitoring the Iranian attack against Israel from the White House Situation Room and are receiving regular updates from their national security team. President Biden directed the U.S. military to aid Israel's defense against Iranian attacks and shoot down missiles that are targeting Israel.

Israel began limited ground incursions into Lebanon for the first time before dawn on October 1. These events represent potentially a dramatic escalation in the nearly 12-month war with the Iranian-backed militia group Hezbollah. It could be the start of a larger regional war.

Iran's escalation followed the incursions by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) into Lebanon to fight Hezbollah – a terrorist group supported by Iran that controls much of southern Lebanon and who has been attacking targets in Israel for much of the last year.

The IDF said in posts on social media that their forces were beginning "limited, localized, and targeted ground raids based on precise intelligence against Hezbollah terrorist targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon" in an operation called "Northern Arrows."

"These targets are located in villages close to the border and pose an immediate threat to Israeli communities in northern Israel," the statement reads.

The Biden-Harris administration has feared that the war between Israel and Hamas that began a year ago with Hamas raids into Israel would escalate into a much wider war. Those fears, at this moment appear to be realized.

The Biden-Harris administration has pushed for months for a diplomatic solution to the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. Both sides have largely ignored the White House's desperate pleas for peace. Hezbollah fired a rocket attack that killed a dozen children and teens on a soccer field. Israel retaliated with air strikes, blowing up Hezbollah walkie talkies and pagers by some previously unknown self destruct command, and by assassinating members of the Hezbollah leadership – they confirmed that their Supreme Leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed by Israel in an attack Friday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the new President of Iran both delivered fiery speeches at the United Nations General Assembly in New York last week.

Hamas started all of this (with Iranian backing) on October 7 when it crossed the border in numbers killing over 1,200 Israelis as well as some Americans and taking around 250 hostages. Israel retaliated by invading Gaza. It is estimated that at least 41,000 Palestinians have been killed in the last 12 months and that Hamas still has about 100 hostages in Gaza – much of which is now rubble.
