The people's voice of reason
The Alabama Gazette panelists correctly picked that Alabama and Auburn would both win their opening games. The panelists were unanimous in their first week picks and went 14 and 2 in the first week.
Alabama coasted to an easy victory over Western Kentucky. Auburn similarly boat raced a much less talented opponent in Alabama A&M.
The panel correctly picked that Georgia would defeat Clemson in Atlanta; though some members of the panel were shocked by the ease at which Georgia finished off Dabo Sweeney and the Clemson Tigers.
The panel correctly predicted that Miami would stomp the Florida Gators in Gainesville. Is there a hotter coaching seat in the country than Billy Napier's? Florida did not look like they were in Miami's league.
The panel also predicted that Notre Dame would beat the Texas A&M Aggies in College Station. Texas A&M wins the recruiting wars thanks to money and NIL; but has failed to develop any of that talent.
The panel underestimated the heart of the Vanderbilt Commodores players. Vanderbilt fought hard for four quarters against Virginia Tech and finally emerged triumphant in overtime.
The panel overestimated the heart of the LSU Tigers' players; and the coaching abilities of Bryan Kelly. For three quarters it looked like LSU had a better team than the University of Southern California; then USC turned it on in the fourth quarter outplaying LSU 13 to 3 hen the game was on the line.
Brandon Mosley, Christopher Peeks, Luisa Reyes, and Perry O Hooper Jr. made up the Alabama Gazette panel.
