The people's voice of reason
August 15, 2024 - presidential candidates Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) both agreed to debate on October 1.
Vance announced that the two campaigns had reached an agreement with a post on the social media platform X.
"The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already," said Sen. Vance on X. "Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!"
"See you on October 1, JD," Walz said in his own X post.
CBS News will host the debate in New York City.

There has already been one debate - in June - but that was between President Trump and President Joseph R. Biden (D). Trump so decisively crushed a befuddled Joe Biden in that debate that his own party leaders forced the incumbent President to withdraw.
Neither Vance nor Walz had even been named as candidates yet at that point.
Vance and Walz have expressed eagerness to debate the other.
