Robin Litaker campaigns in Jefferson County

August 10,2024 – Vestavia Hills - Alabama Republicans presently control six of the seven Congressional seats in Alabama. District Two is open and is being fiercely contest between the Republican, Montgomery attorney Caroleene Dobson and the Democrat, former Deputy Attorney General Shomari Figures. In the Seventh Congressional District retired educator Robin Litaker is challenging incumbent Congresswoman Terri Sewell of Selma. Litaker addressed the Mid-Alabama Republican Party on Saturday at the Vestavia Hills Public Library.

"I am a retired teacher, principal," said Litaker. :I am running for this office because in this red state there is a big blue blob in the western half of the state."

"There are counties in district 7 that are on the verge of turning," said Litaker. "Terri Sewell has got to go. The things that we are finding out about Terri Sewell are nothing short of neglect."

"District 7 has some of the most impoverished areas in the state," Litaker continued. "70 to 80 percent of the rural people in the district do not have water and sewage systems."

"Hospitals in the district are on the verge of closing," warned Litaker. "Two boys in Pickens County watched their daddy die because it took 45 minutes for an ambulance to arrive."

"People say I can't win," said Litaker. "They don't know me. If we can get the swing vote we are going to beat Terri Sewell."

Litaker said that she has spoken with ranchers who are concerned about the estate tax.

"They can't leave their ranches to their children because they can't pay the inheritance tax," said Litaker. "We can fix this."

Litaker said that she talked ton one woman who "Lost $90,000 because the Biden-Harris administration decided it was a good idea to lower tariffs on catfish from Vietnam. (U.S. Senators) Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt spoke out; but Terri Sewell said nothing because she is spending weekends in Belair spending $10,000 and $7,500."

Litaker said that she did not need to run for Congress; but that if Donald Trump wins but does not have the House House Democrats will block him from implementing his agenda.

Litaker said that Democratic politics have brought, "Inflation and illegal immigration and war and they are all at our door stop."

"$8 for a box on corn flakes?" Litaker continued. "We are spending $114 billion on illegal aliens and war is right on our door. For the first time District 7 is winnable."

"We need to help Caroleene Dobson," said Litaker.

Litaker previously ran for Alabama Public Service Commission.

The general election is on November 5.

The Mid-Alabama Republican Club (MARC) meets on the second Saturday of each month at the Vestavia Hills Public Library. Janey Whitney is the President of MARC.
