Rep. Rex Reynolds Named 2024 Alabama 310 Legislator of The Year

MONTGOMERY, ALA – Rep. Rex Reynolds (R-Huntsville) has been named the 2024 Legislator of the Year by the Alabama 310 Association.

Established by Alabama Act 310, 310 Boards are public, non-profit corporations that play a crucial role in providing free mental health and substance abuse services. The 19 faculties, spread across the state, operate at no cost to the 5,000 plus patients they serve.

Rep. Reynolds, who serves as House General Fund Chairman, has prioritized funding mental health care. Most recently, the Legislature appropriated $235 million to the Alabama Department of Mental Health in the 2024 General Fund Budget.

"It's an honor to be recognized as the 310 Association's Legislator of the Year, but Alabama's mental health professionals truly deserve all the credit," said Rep. Reynolds. "Our community mental health centers are saving lives daily, and I'm proud to support them through my role as House General Fund Chairman. While Alabama has come a long way in supporting mental healthcare, we still have a lot of work ahead of us. I look forward to our continued efforts to expand access and connect those in crisis with the care they need to recover."

Dawn Lindsey, President of the Alabama 310 Association, recognized Rep. Reynolds as a tireless advocate for mental health care.

"Each year, our association honors a legislator who champions efforts to expand and enhance services for individuals with mental health issues, substance abuse disorders and developmental disabilities," said Lindsey. "Rep. Reynolds has been a tireless advocate for this group, working not only to better their lives but to positively impact the lives of their families as well."
