Foundation for Moral Law files brief in support of a removed Arlington monument

September 5, 2024 – Montgomery - the Foundation for Moral Law announced that it has filed an amicus brief in support of the efforts by Veterans groups who have sued the Department of Defense after a left leaning Pentagon Naming Commission removed a Confederate veteran's monument from Arlington National Cemetery.

On December 20, 2023, a Memorial to soldiers of the Confederate Army-also known as the Reconciliation Monument-was removed from Arlington National Cemetery under orders from President Joseph R. Biden's (D) "Naming Commission."

The Foundation for Moral Law said that Biden's commission has systematically erased public acknowledgment of Americans who served in the Confederate Army. Bases have been renamed, plaques have been removed, statues of Confederate heroes have been torn down-all in the name of "progress."

The Foundation for Moral Law said that this is not about progress. It's about erasing history.

Several veterans' groups have filed suit against the Department of Defense and government officials that ordered the removal of the Reconciliation Monument.

The Foundation for Moral Law argued that this attack on historical monuments violates the religious liberty of those who honor their ancestors.

The Foundation is asking for support from Alabamians to help stand up for the Constitution, history, and religious liberty.

Proverbs 22:28: "Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set."

"Our ancestors erected monuments like the Reconciliation Memorial to honor their heritage," the Foundation wrote in a statement. "The Left's attempts to destroy these symbols reveal their true aim-not merely erasing history, but of erasing the very identity of everyday Americans. Monuments related to the South have been easy targets for the Left, but we know that their mission is much broader. The assault on our Nation's history is only the beginning. The Left's ultimate mission is to dismantle everything tied to America's founding principles. We believe this campaign against monuments is part of a broader agenda to undermine the Constitution itself!"

"We stand firmly against the Left's distorted view of America's Founding," the Foundation continued. "The Constitution and the Bill of Rights are not relics to be rewritten; they are the final defenses against tyranny and the safeguards of our God-given freedoms. Without them, the liberties we cherish would be at risk. That's why we must act now to preserve these principles-because if we don't, who will?"

The Foundation for Moral Law is a Montgomery based nonprofit organization founded by former Chief Justice Roy Moore (R).
