A small tremor or giant earthquake?

Kamala Harris has burst onto the scene as a virtual unknown. Yes, she served as the attorney general and senator from California before joining Biden on the ticket in 2020, but who has heard of her over the last four years.? What do Americans know about Vice President Harris?

Well, nothing, that's what she's got going in her favor. Just wait. But even as an unknown, she still has the highest disapproval ratings of any vice president in history. Trump has higher approval ratings than her, and her disapproval ratings are higher than his. Yet the media wants you to believe a significant shift to her is trending in the polls. But is it?

Perception is often not reality. The media is doing a masterful spin job headlining their articles. They have headlines like Trump voters flipping the Harris. Harris is gaining on Trump. Harris, Harris Harris, you get it. We all knew Trump's bounce would eventually come down, but is Harris picking up Trump's support?

Right now, I have talked to Trump voters who have surrendered, and I almost giggled like Kamala when one friend told me he hadn't seen anything like this since 2008. Barrack Obama, she is not. Very soon, America will be introduced to Vice President Harris, but for now, let's focus on the present.

CNN released a poll a few days ago declaring Harris taking voters away from Trump. Then, one starts reading the article and sees that CNN has Trump up 49 to 46. When you start looking at the deeper numbers, the story paints a different picture. The article boasts that Harris is retaining 95% of the Biden voters and taking 5% from Trump. Wait, 5% of her voters have abandoned her, and 5% of Trump voters joined her side. So, it's a wash.

Then, they have more data. Trump is still ahead with independents. And still maintains the lead with undecideds. So, no matter how CNN spins it, this race has not dramatically changed.

As I write this, the numbers change by the minute. Trump is still the odds-on favorite. The map is still in his favor. His popularity ratings are as high as ever, and his negatives are the lowest. I've already mentioned how unpopular Harris is. Just wait to see her numbers dip when the Republican attack ads start.

Where is this race is going to end, I can't say. Has Harris moved the needle, or according to the margin of error, is the race still the same as with Biden? We don't know. Although there has been a tremor in polling, there has not been an earthquake like the media would have you believe.

Polls are just a snapshot of a moment in time. And at the current moment, if I am Team Trump, we are good. At this point, we have weathered the storm. If I'm inside Team Harris, I'm excited. We got a chance. So before you start taking down your Trump signs or planning to attend Harris's inauguration, wait. A lot of things can happen between now and November
