Tuberville demands full transparency into how a would-be assassin was able to shoot President Trump

U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) spoke with members of the Alabama press corps on Wednesday about the attempt on former President Donald J. Trump's (R) life. Tuberville urged that the Secret Service provide full transparency into the investigation of went wrong that day.

"On July 13 our nation watched in horror as a 20-year-old man tried to take the life of President Donald Trump at a political rally in Pennsylvania," Sen. Tuberville said. "We were centimeters away from one of the darkest days in American history. I spoke to President Trump soon after and he told me that it is only by the grace of God that he is alive today."

Tuberville said that we need to get to the bottom of what wrong that day.

"I am thankful that President Trump is OK, but we need to get to the bottom of how this could ever have happened," said Tuberville. "Reports are showing that there were multiple opportunities where the would-be assassin could have been stopped."

Tuberville said that the Secret Service is at fault in this incident and call for full transparency.

"The fact that someone was able to pull the trigger is a complete failure on the part of the Secret Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and ultimately the Biden/Harris administration." Tuberville continued. "America is the leader of the free world, and our Constitution affords us the right of freedom of speech. No American should have to fear for their life when attending a political rally. I was glad to see Secret Service Director Cheatle resign; but it can't stop there. Americans deserve full transparency from the Secret Service about how this could ever happen."

On Tuesday, Director Cheatle resigned the day after her shockingly bad appearance before a congressional committee looking into the security lapses that nearly allowed the Assassination of former President Donald J. Trump (R).

Thomas Matthew Crooks was identified as a suspicious person at a Trump rally on July 13 nearly an hour before Trump walked on stage. Crooks was seen using a range finder just outside of the event, Secret Service members and local law enforcement on scene failed to detain the suspect, Despite this, the President was still allowed to go on stage. Crooks was seen with a rifle climbing the roof of the only building with a clear unobstructed sight of the stage, still nothing was done to prevent Trump from walking on stage, the presidential assassin pointed his AR-15 style rifle at the Butler police officer who was attempting to climb on to the roof. Still no alarm bells went off to protect the President. Trump was hit in the ear and came within 3 centimeters of being killed that day. A volunteer fire chief, Corey Comperatore – age 50, was shot and killed, and two more Trump supporters, David Dutch and James Copenhaver, were seriously wounded.

Director Cheatle testified last Monday that she has still not visited the Butler scene where her agency's apparent incompetence almost changed American history. She still had not fired anyone even though nine days had passed since the assassination attempt on President Trump's life.

Cheatle claimed that the Secret Service did not put a sniper on that roof because it was sloped and thus a safety concern. A team of Congress members climbed up on to that almost roof on Monday and found nothing particularly dangerous about it. There was a water tower at the scene in Butler that would have given a Secret Service counter sniper a clear unobstructed view of the entire scene including that rooftop. No explanation was given why that order was not given.

The FBI is leading the investigation into what went wrong in Pennsylvania on July 13. FBI Director Christopher Wray declined the opportunity to discuss the investigation with the committee.

Tommy Tuberville was elected to the Senate in 2020 after a fifty-year career in education, coaching, and sports broadcasting.
