Tuberville applauds Israel for the killing of terrorist leader in Lebanon

On Tuesday, Israel Defense Forces attacked a building in a suburb in Beirut, Lebanon. Among the dead was top Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr. Shukr is believed to have been a planner in the senseless killing of 241 Marines in Lebanon in 1983. On Wednesday, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Alabama) speaking in a phone interview with the Alabama Press Corps, applauded the killing of Shukr – who is believed to have been involved in the senseless rocket attack that killed 14 teens and children at a soccer match in Israel on Saturday.

"On October 23,1983 terrorists killed 241 Americans, including 220 Marines in Beirut, Lebanon," Sen. Tuberville told the Alabama reporters. "Last night Israel Defense Forces reportedly killed a top Hamas leader responsible for those American lives lost. Semper Fi."

Senator Tuberville blamed the Biden/Harris administration for the worsening situation in the Middle East.

"Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have brought us to the brink of another war," said Tuberville. "It's not a mystery how this happened. This administration has flushed Iran with cash and now Iran is bankrolling terrorism all over the Middle East."

Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu addressed a joint session of the U.S. Congress. Presumptive Democratic Party nominee Vice President Kamala Harris was not present for the Prime Minister's speech. Protestors showed up in numbers to denounce the visit.

"They are turning their backs on our closest ally: Israel," Tuberville said. "This is why Kamala couldn't bring herself to show up for Prime Minister Netanyahu's congressional address last week. It's because Hamas has become a key constituency for the Democratic Party. Last week, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi stood by while Pro-Hamas protestors destroyed property two blocks from my office in the Capital."

Tuberville accused Democrats of being weak and undermining America's long-standing relationship with Israel.

"Democrats are more concerned with appeasing our enemies than supporting our friends and allies," said Tuberville. "It is the weakest administration in the history of this country. It has made us a complete joke in the eyes of the world. Americans deserve a real leadership in the White House."

Tuberville has endorsed former President Donald J. Trump (R).

Someone also assassinated Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political wing, in Iran.

Hamas and Iran are both blaming Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces declined to comment on Haniyeh's death. Hamas, Israel, and Hezbollah are vowing to retaliate. There is a growing likelihood that there will be an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah – which occupies much of southern Lebanon. Israel is still fighting Hamas in Gaza.

Tommy Tuberville was elected to the Senate in 2020 after five decades as a teacher, coach, and sports broadcaster
