Attorney General Marshall Announces Conviction of Pike County Man on Possession of Child Pornography

(Montgomery, Ala) -Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the conviction of a Pike County man on possession of child pornography. Yuchen Wu, 34, of Troy, and a Chinese national, pleaded guilty in Pike County Circuit Court to one count of possession of obscene matter depicting a person under the age of 17.

"Child pornography is a scourge on our society and must be pursued and punished relentlessly," said Attorney General Marshall. "Children who are victims of this depravity spend a lifetime trying to heal. The very least the justice system can do is to guarantee that these crimes follow the offender for his lifetime as well."

Wu was sentenced to 10 years, which was split for him to serve one year in prison followed by a term of two years of supervised probation. Upon his release, Wu will be required to register as a sex offender and abide by all requirements of Alabama's Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

Attorney General Marshall commended his Criminal Trials Division for its successful prosecution of this case, noting in particular Assistant Attorneys General Jillian Jordan Evans and Jasmyne Crimiel, as well as the Special Agents of his Investigations Division and the Cybercrime Unit.
