State land available for underground coal mining lease

On Monday, the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) announced that their State Lands Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will be accepting bids for a underground coal mining lease.

Bidders have until 4:00 P.M. July 16, 2024 to turn in a bid. The bids will be publicly opened and read on the following day, July 17, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the office of the State Lands Division, Room 464, Folsom Administrative Building, 64 North Union Street, Montgomery, Alabama 36104.

The property to be mined is 120 acres of state land in Jefferson County. The state estimates that the property has

The minimum big is $6.647.112. Any bids less than that will not be accepted.

In order to bid, the State Lands Division is requiring that bidders submit a $332,355.60 advance royalty payment with their bid. The checks from the losing bidders will be returned.

The state estimates that the property has 1.661,778 short tons of coal that can be recovered.
