Military Marker Installation for PFC Edward L. Chappell

On May 19, 2024, a grave marker was installed for Private First Class (PFC) Edward L. Chappell who was killed in action March 17, 1969 serving in the US Army 191 Light Artillery (BDE) Field Artillery in combat in Quang Ngai, Vietnam, during Vietnam War. PFC Chappell was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. The upright grave marker was installed in a ceremony in the Greater Mallards Chapel AME Church Cemetery in Autauga County, AL, May 19, 2024. Funds for the grave marker were raised by the Old Autauga County Historical Society and alumni of the Autauga County Training School. Military honors were led by members of Chapter 607 Vietnam Veterans of America with a Color Guard, the firing a three-volley salute, the careful 13 folds of the American flag symbolic of the tri-cornered flag and a description of the Missing Man Table.
