Major Lee Jamerson Stuckey: Age: 44

Major Lee Jamerson Stuckey served 22 years with 6+ years as an Enlisted Infantryman and 16+ years as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. His Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as an Enlisted Marine was a Machine Gunner, and once commissioned he served as a Logistics Officer with various leadership billets throughout his career. He received the following medals, decorations, citations and ribbons: Purple Heart (for wounds received in Iraq in 2007), Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with a “V” for Valor in combat, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.

Major Stuckey was born April 1, 1980 to his parents, Alva and Letha Stuckey in Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Marion Military Institute in 1998, and then he attended Auburn University for one year. He enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in 1999, and he then returned to his university education after he completed all of his required Infantry training. He graduated from Auburn University in 2004 with a B.S. Degree in Supply Chain Management while attaining the rank of Sergeant as an Infantry Marine. Once he completed his college degree, he was accepted into the Marine Corps commissioning program and began his training in Quantico, Va.

Major Stuckey completed Marine Boot Camp at Parris Island, S.C., attended the School of Infantry and Machine Gunner School at the Marine Corps Base Camp LeJeune, N.C., and Officer Candidate School in Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA. He served the majority of his military career at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Major Stuckey served three combat tours in Iraq. One tour was as an Enlisted Infantryman during the invasion of Iraq in 2004 and two subsequent deployments as an Officer. Major Stuckey suffered a brain injury from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while serving in Iraq in 2007. He also served another deployment during 2014-2015 in Romania when Russia was invading Ukraine and a few short deployments to Albania and Korea. He officially retired from his Marine Corps service in September 2021 at Camp Lejeune.

During his active duty service, Major Stuckey received a Master’s Degrees in Organizational Leadership from Marshall University in 2016 and a Master’s Degree from the University of New England in 2020.

Since his military retirement, Major Stuckey has been involved with running several nonprofits and a for profit business. He serves on the nonprofit boards for America’s Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors (AHERO), the Central Alabama Prescribed Burn Association (CAPBA), Romanian American Mission (RAM), Operation Phoenix, and he runs a for profit company, Habitat Heroes Outdoors (H20).

Major Stuckey is the founder and leader of America’s Heroes Enjoying Recreation Outdoors (AHERO) which connects veterans and first responders through outdoor activities as a means to recover from their physical wounds and psychological trauma to reintegrate with American life at Major Stuckey’s farm near Tuskegee in Macon County, AL, at the Warrior Lodge.

Major Stuckey and his wife, Tama Doull, have been married for one year and enjoy living on their farm in Central Alabama while his wife is working on a degree in Wildlife Enterprises from Auburn University. Major Stuckey says, “The wedding picture is of a happy ending to an extremely stressful but fulfilling Marine Corps career. I left my career with the wife that God planned for me and only met her because of my Marne Corps career. Life has its seasons and it’s now time to enjoy a less traumatic and more peaceful time with my wife and family. She is retired German Infantry and now helps me run AHERO through her volunteer time and AHERO FARMS.”

Major Stuckey’s conclusions about his service in the U.S. Marine Corps are: “It was the solid foundation that I will be able to build upon for the rest of my life. I want to leave a positive legacy and live a life for those that we lost overseas.” He would like to be remembered as a man who did everything to glorify God by helping his community.
