UCF defeats Alabama in baseball playoffs

The University of Alabama baseball team lost to the University of Central Florida on Friday 7 to 8 in their first NCAA postseason game.

The loss drops the Tide to 33 and 223 on the season.

The Tide is playing in the Tallahassee regional of the NCAA baseball playoffs. This is a double elimination regional, so the Tide still has some life left. The Tide will play Stetson in an elimination game on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CDT. The game is being televised on ESPN+.

Shortstop Justin Lebron had 4 hits on 5 at bats for the Tide, including 1 run and 2 runs batted in.

Third baseman Gage Miller had 2 hits in 4 at bats, including 2 runs.

The first-year head coach of Alabama baseball is Rob Vaughn.

"We just couldn't quite get a zero on the mound when we needed it," said Vaughn. "Offensively we fought hard."
