Southern Miss wins Sun Belt Conference Tournament

On Sunday, the University of Southern Mississippi defeated Georgia Southern University to win back to back Sun Belt Conference baseball tournaments. The 2024 Sun Belt Conference Tournament was held in Montgomery and hosted by Troy University.

Southern Miss scored five runs in the ninth inning to win 14 to 11 over Georgia Southern.

Southern Miss finished the season 41 and 18.

Sothern Miss's Colby Allen was chosen as the Most Outstanding player of the tournament.

The Sun Belt Conference head coaches voted Louisiana's LP Langevin as the Sun Belt pitcher of the world. Teammate Kyle DeBarge was voted the Sun Belt Conference player of the year. The Junior shortstop had 21 home runs, a .730 slugging percentage and was Top 10 in the league with 83 hits, 67 RBIs, 61 runs scored and a .361 batting average. Junior right-handed pitcher Langevin who was a native of Quebec, led the Sun Belt with 97 strikeouts, a 163 opposing batting average, 33 hits allowed, 23 runs allowed, seven doubles allowed and zero triples allowed out of the Ragin' Cajuns bullpen. Langevin was ranked among the top 10 with a 3.43 ERA, seven saves, six wins and 14 games finished.
