LSU and Tennessee will meet for SEC Championship

On Sunday LSU and Tennessee will play in the 2024 SEC Baseball Tournament Championship game in Hoover. The two teams bested their semi-final opponents on Saturday to advance to the championship game.

LSU defeated South Carolina on Saturday with a walk off home run in the tenth inning 11 to 10.

Tennessee defeated Vanderbilt on Saturday night 6 to 4 – avenging a loss to the Commodores earlier in the tournament.

The Championship game will be at 3:00 p.m. CDT at the Hoover Met. The game will be televised on ESPN2.

The winner will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA baseball playoffs that begin later this week.

For Tennessee it is a given that they will be in the NCAA tournament. They were the best team in the Southeastern Conference and the number one seed in the SEC tournament. By any standard they are one of the top teams in the country. LSU, on the other hand, was the 11th seed in the tournament. Based on their regular season record, the Tigers are a bubble team, at best. A win Sunday will secure them a spot.

The teams and matchups in the playoffs will be announced on the NCAA baseball selection show on Monday.
