Alabama ties series with Tennessee in softball playoffs

The University of Alabama softball team fought off elimination and narrowly won an extra inning game on Saturday with the Tennessee Lady Vols. Tennessee had won the first game of the three game NCAA playoff series so Alabama's season would have ended with a loss. Instead, Alabama plays Tennessee on Sunday for the super-regional. Winner advances and loser goes home.

Alabama won 3 to 2. The Tide finally broke through in the fourteenth inning when Kristen White drove Lauren Johnson home.

Bailey Downing tied the game at 2 in the fourth inning with a solo home run.

Tennessee won game 1 of the series on Friday 3 to 2.

Patrick Murphy is the Tide's head coach.
