Scott McLaughlin won the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand prix

On Sunday, Scott McLaughlin won the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix at the Barber Motorsports Park near Leeds, Alabama. This is not a new experience for McLaughlin, who also won the race last year.

Sunday's victory capped off a great week for McLaughlin and Team Penske in Leeds as he also won the pole. Will Power, who also races for Team Penske finished second. Linus Lundquist with Chip Ganassi Racing finished third – coming all the up from 19th at the start.

Jacob Able won the Indy NXT race. It was his first career victory.

In other Indy Car Series news, The Arrow McLaren racing team terminated driver David Malukas's contract after he missed the Grand Prix. It was the 22-year old's fourth missed IndyCar race due to an offseason mountain bike racing injury.

The track as Barber Motorsports Park is home to one of the world's top road courses.

April is motorsports month in Alabama with both the Indy Racing League and NASCAR holding premium events in the state on back-to-back weekends. NASCAR was in Dover this week where Denny Hamlin got the victory.

The Indy Car teams are going to Indianapolis next for the Sonsio 500 at the historic brickyard track. The 2:00 p.m. race will be televised on NBC and the Peacock Network.
