The people's voice of reason

Alabama A-Day Game is Saturday

The University of Alabama football team takes the field for A-Day on Saturday. The current Tide players were small children the last time that Alabama played a game without Nick Saban. This will be the first time that will take the field with Kalen DeBoer as the Tide's head coach.

A lot of Tide players transferred out after Saban's departure and most of the coaching staff is new to Tuscaloosa. More players have transferred into the program along with 2024 recruits that were able to enter college a semester early so there a lot of new faces. This will be the first chance for Tide fans to see what Alabama football looks like in the post-Saban era.

"Great practice out there today," DeBoer said in the press conference. "Got a chance to switch it up a little bit. 1s versus 2, 2s versus 1s. The neat thing is you know that those 2s are playing good and playing well and wanting to prove how far they have come along. They did some nice things today in practice. So extremely competitive out there across the board. The rest of the practice was what we usually do 1s versus 1s and 2s versus 2sm

DeBoer will not divide into teams for the A-Day game.

"The format for the game is offense versus defense. We won't have divided teams. A couple of reasons. Number 1 I like to look at it as practice number 15. We will see a lot of great scrimmaging out there; but it is a chance for us to get better. A chance for us to take the next step. A chance for us to evaluate as well to try to get down to the bare bones of playing football. It gives us a chance for us to celebrate what we are doing and where we are at."

The A-Day game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium; but football is not the only thing going on. Admission is free.
