On Tuesday the Troy University baseball team defeated Alabama State University 14 to 3.
Troy got out to an early lead with three runs in the second inning. The men of Troy picked up another run in the third inning. ASU scored two runs in the fourth inning, but gave up another run. Troy built on their lead in the sixth inning with four more runs. They followed that in the seventh with five more runs, only giving up one.
Eight Trojans had hits in the game. Troy hit three home runs. Jay Dill pitched the first 3.1 innings. Grayson Stewart came in in the fourth and pitched 2.2 innings. Michael Osmond closed the game out with 1.1 innings. Tremayne Cobb Jr. in four at bats had three hits, two runs, and two RBIs. Brooks Bryan home run shot broke things open for the Trojans in the third inning.
The night did not go well for the ASU pitching staff. Devin Brooks pitched the first two innings; but after that six different ASU pitchers cycled through the game.
"All of the phases of the game were good," said Trojans Head Coach Skylar Meade.
Troy improves to 19 and 11 on the year, while Alabama State fell to 13 and 13.
